DeSoto’s Kaempfe makes family promise pay off with return to Dream Team

(DeSoto) You know DeSoto Dragons junior Will Kaempfe as one of the best cross country runners in the state and a returning member to the Regional Radio Dream Team.

But you may not know that he didn’t think much about the sport until he got the nudge from his equally talented sister, Lily.

And while it didn’t start out the way he wanted, Kaempfe said he eventually came around on running.

Kaempfe’s career has since included 2 all-state finishes, a personal-best time at the Class 4 state meet that was also a school record and numerous top-10 finishes at other meets.

But he says he’s just as concerned with his teammates getting better as well.

Kaempfe earned a top-10 finish at 6 meets this season.
