DeSoto’s Mellor crosses finish line of career with Dream Team honors

(DeSoto) Erika Mellor capped a terrific running career with the DeSoto Dragons with some serious hardware.

That includes a spot on the Regional Radio Dream Team in track & field.

Mellor finished fourth at the Class 4 state championships in the 400-meter race, an event she also won conference, district and sectional championships in.

After battling injuries early in her senior year, Mellor was overjoyed to achieve some career goals.

Mellor has been all-state, all-conference and all-district in her career in the 400 and 800 meters.

She says those middle-distance events have been her strongest.

And Mellor has a family at home and on the track that she is quick to thank for being in her corner.

Mellor also ran a leg of the 4-by-200 relay team that earned all-state honors for DeSoto.

She will continue her career in track and cross country at Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau.
