Dinkins Backs Timber Bill To Help Local Counties

(Jefferson City) 144th district representative Chris Dinkins of Annapolis updated us on a bill that would send funding to area counties on which timber is harvested from government lands. Currently the Missouri conservation department sells timber off of government lands and keeps 100% of the revenue…

Dinkins says the fact that those counties have government owned land is one of the reasons they have financial difficulties…

Dinkins says the benefit to the counties would be much larger than the sacrifice by the MDC…

Dinkins says that some legislators are considering adding an amendment that would require the funds be split between schools and also local road and bridge departments as the timber operations take a toll on local roads.
Dinkins says this bill could benefit Iron, Reynolds, and Wayne counties.
