Dinkins, Wakefield Named First Ever Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy Play if Forward “Co-Athletes” of the Week
(ANNAPOLIS) For the first time the Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy Play if Forward Athlete of the Week will be awarded to “Co-Athletes,” of the Week. Both Drenin Dinkins and Brock Wakefield of South Iron Boys Basketball will share the honor, after leading the Panthers to the Arcadia Valley Thanksgiving Tournament Championship. Head coach of the Panthers Dusty Dinkins has a lot of praise for the freshman and sophomore combo.
The freshman Dinkins averaged 20 points, 5 assists, 3 steals, 4 rebounds, and shot 73% from inside the arc, and 45% from downtown. While sophomore Wakefield, averaged 20 points, 4 assists, 5 steals, 4 rebounds, shot 59% from 2, and 75% from 3. Coach Dinkins says the two are close off the court and that their relationship translates on the court.
Both Drenin Dinkins and Brock Wakefield will receive a certificate, a t shirt, and Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy will make a combined donation of $50 to the American Cancer Society in Brock and Drenin’s name. Brock’s donation will be made in memory of in memory of his great grandmother, Mary J. Soria while Drenin’s in memory of Don Dinkins. Don passed away this summer from brain cancer and was an avid fan of local HS Basketball. Drenin’s father and head coach Dusty Dinkins says he never missed an AV Thanksgiving Tournament or Central Christmas Tournament in all the years he can remember.
