Drought Conditions Intensify for Southeast Missouri

(Farmington) The latest drought map was released Thursday by the U.S. Geological Survey and it’s not good news for the Regional Radio Listening Area.

All of Shannon, nearly all of Dent, the entire western side and the southern end of Reynolds and a plot of northwestern Crawford County are now all experiencing severe drought conditions.

All of Iron and Wayne counties, plus northwestern Reynolds, southern Bollinger, the rest of Crawford, the majority of Washington, except for the northeast corner of Washington County and the southwestern tip of Madison County are all experiencing moderate drought conditions.

All other locations in the listening area are listed as abnormally dry but there are two small areas that have escaped any problems so far and that’s in eastern Perry County and a small strip through the heart of Jefferson County.
