Farmington Student Advances to National Spelling Bee Quartersfinals

(Orlando) Missouri will have four students competing in Tuesday’s quarterfinals of the National Spelling Bee.

They are from Webster Groves, Columbia, Park Hill and Farmington.

Pooja Dayaratna of Farmington High School spelled correctly the words volant and nidicolous to move on to the quarterfinals.

Other spellers from Missouri who did not make it to the next round are from Rolla, Gladstone, Trenton and Peculiar.

Tuesday’s National Spelling Bee quarterfinals begin at 11 o’clock and you can watch it on ESPN 3.

These final round of the competition, in July, will be held at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando.
