Fatal Crash In Front of Kingston School Campus in Washington County

(Old Mines) If school at Kingston had not been closed Friday because of flooding, administrators planned to have counselors on hand for students to talk to who may have witnessed a fatality accident Thursday afternoon in front of the entrance to the school’s campus, located a few miles north of Old Mines on Highway 21 at Diamond Road.

The Highway Patrol says a Ford Fusion driven by a 16-year-old female Kingston High School student from Cadet was attempting to turn onto 21 from Diamond Road but failed to yield to a Chevy Cavalier driven by 45-year-old Beth Rutledge of Richwoods.

The front of the Cavalier then struck the left side of the Fusion.

Rutledge was pronounced dead at the scene by the Washington County coroner and the teen was seriously injured and had to be taken to Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis.
