Festus faces Seckman, Northwest battles Eureka as Steighorst Invite continues on KJFF

(Hillsboro) The other half of the bracket gets its turn as quarterfinal action continues in the Gene Steighorst Invitational Tuesday on KJFF.

It all starts when the Festus Tigers battle the Seckman Jaguars.

Fourth-seeded Festus is 1-1 on the young season.

Tigers head coach Jason Therrell says he’s hoping his team will be able to get out and run the floor.

Number-five-seed Seckman will open its season with the matchup against Festus.

Jaguars head coach Travis Williams says the team’s greatest strength this year should be its depth.

In the second half of a doubleheader, the Northwest Lions face Eureka.

The top-seeded Wildcats are hoping to open their season with a victory in a tournament they won last year on their way to a 20-win season.

Head coach Austin Kirby says he likes the veteran core that is back and is itching to play a real game.

Northwest fell in its opener 73-51 to Festus.

Coverage begins with KJFF Sports Talk live from Hillsboro at 4 Tuesday afternoon leading up the Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show at 4:45 on AM 1400.
