Festus’ Krieg keeps on ticking, reaches third boys’ cross country Dream Team

(Festus) Cullen Krieg is establishing a special legacy at a place where that’s hard to do.

Despite so many great cross country runners representing the Festus Tigers during their run of 8 straight state championships, few can claim to making the Regional Radio Dream Team 3 times like Krieg.

After coming up just short of winning an individual state title in 2020 and finishing second, Krieg again finished top-10 at the Class 4 state championships this year.

But he doesn’t take any honor he receives lightly, especially being back on the Dream Team.

Krieg’s 5th-place finish at state this year means he has earned all-conference, all-district and all-state honors in each of his 3 seasons running at Festus.

He says the key to staying so consistently good is to have a consistent regimen.

Krieg was joined on the Dream Team by Festus teammates Jacob Meyers and Ian Schram.

He says his team on and off the course is what keeps him going.

Krieg earned a top-10 finish in 6 races this year.

He was second at the JCAA Championships at sixth at districts.
