Festus’ Reando grinds to stardom, baseball Dream Team

(Festus) Collin Reando fought through a lot of adversity during his time as a Festus Tiger.

But he’s come out on the other side as a star on the baseball diamond and a member of the Regional Radio Dream Team.

Reando earned Class 5 all-state honors in his senior season, helping the Tigers put a late-season winning streak together that brought home a district championship.

After losing all of last season, Reando says it’s nice to know the work he put in to come back better than ever is not lost on area coaches.

Reando posted a team-high .443 batting average and also lead Festus with 25 runs batted in.

He says the biggest challenge in a pandemic world was finding opposing pitching to help him stay sharp over the summer.

Reando’s final season showed he was still at the top of his game, adding 24 runs scored and 10 stolen bases to some slick defense at shortstop.

But Reando says that baseball is the easy part; his family got him through the hardest times.

Reando was named Mr. Baseball at Festus High School in 2021 and will continue his career on the diamond at Jefferson College.
