Festus’ Schram talks fast track start, Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week

Festus Tigers sophomore Ian Schram is quickly making a name for himself in the running world.

After a stellar second cross country season, Schram’s first week of high school track & field has earned him the Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week.

Schram has managed to run the fastest times in the state in Class 4 in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200-meter races.

Schram says his anticipation for the season is only matched by his enjoyment of the results.

Schram is no stranger to being a successful distance runner.

He’s finished top-ten in the state in each of the last 2 seasons, and his ninth-place finish in Class 4 this fall helped Festus win an impressive seventh straight team state championship.

But Schram says it’s teammates like Cullen Krieg, Jacob Meyers and Nathan Wolk that push him to get better each day.

But Schram is not stopping at just a fast start to the spring – he’s shooting big again in track.

Schram’s time in the long-distance races are top-ten in the state across all classes.

As Athlete of the Week, he receives a T-shirt, a certificate and a coupon good for one free entree at Applebee’s in Farmington.
