Festus Teenager Killed in Two Vehicle Accident in Ste. Genevieve County

(Ste. Genevieve County) A Festus teenager was killed in a two vehicle accident Friday evening in Ste. Geneveive County.

According to the Missouri state Highway Patrol, a 2009 Ford escape being driven by 18-year-old McKenna Templeton of Festus and a 2006 Semi-truck being driven by 55-year-old Lewis Riddick the 3rd of Perryville were both driving south on I-55 near the 146.4 mile marker.

Templeton attempted to execute a lane change to the left which resulted in the right of Templeton’s vehicle striking the left rear of Riddick’s truck.

As a result, Templeton began to overturn, ejecting the driver, before striking a guard rail.

Templeton was pronounced dead on the scene by the Ste. Genevieve County Coroner.

The accident happened shortly before 6:45 Friday evening.
