Fire crews battle 2nd alarm blaze in Festus

(Festus) Fire crews throughout the Twin Cities responded to an early morning fire on Monday in the 100 block of East Beffa Street across from the CVS/Pharmacy store.

Festus Fire Chief Jeff Broombaugh says the call came in around 3:17am for a building fire which is the remaining structure of the former Twin City Motel.

At the height of the fire there were 11 departments on scene including Festus.

According to Chief Broomaugh the fire was under control shortly after 5am.

Chief Broombaugh adds the building was not being used as living quarters but more of a storage area.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and remains under investigation.
