Firearms Deer Season is a Wrap

(Farmington) The Missouri Department of Conservation says deer hunters in Missouri harvested 187,967 deer during the firearms deer season which wrapped up Tuesday.

101,501 were bucks, 16,435 were button bucks and 70,031 were does.

Top harvest counties were Franklin with 4,144, Texas County had 4,050 and Howell County was third with 3,244.

Last year, hunters checked about 10-thousand less deer during the firearms season.

The conservation department says two firearms-related hunting incidents.

Both were non-fatal and self-inflicted.
