Fredericktown Defeats Class Four, #4 Central For Second Time This Season, 52-47, On J98

(Park Hills) For the second time this season, the Fredericktown Lady Blackcats defeated Class Four, #4 Central at the T.J. Foulon Fieldhouse in Park Hills. Fredericktown won 52-47 Thursday night on J98.

With the exception of a tie game at 2-2, Fredericktown led the entire first half. It was 13-8 after one quarter and 23-21 at halftime. Central took their first lead of the game to open the second half…

The lead didn’t last long, as Calie Allgier followed up by hitting the first three pointers of the game for Fredericktown…

 

Fredericktown led 33-31 going into the fourth quarter. Central tied the game at 33 but Fredericktown held on the rest of the way…

 

Fredericktown’s PJ Reutzel, Lydia Mell and Ava Penuel combined to go a perfect 10-for-10 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Reutzel finished with 20 points. Allgier added 13 points shooting 3-of-3 from three. Coach Micah Reutzel said it was a perfect execution of the game plan.

 

In the Central Christmas tournament semifinals, six seed Fredericktown erased a 16 point, second half deficit to beat two seed Central, 45-43. Reutzel says Thursday’s game provided clarification.

After losing 25 straight games to Central, Fredericktown have now won two straight over the Rebels.
Fredericktown improves to 9-9 on the season and 3-1 in the MAAA conference, their most conference wins since 2007. They’ll host Ste. Genevieve on Monday.

For Central, Khloe Dischbein scored 21 points and Kinley Norris added 12 points. Central are now 15-3 and 3-1 in the MAAA. Central is at North County on Monday.
