Head Leads North County Football to Victory with Four Touchdowns, Named Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week

(Bonne Terre) The North County Raiders football team impressed offensively this past Friday as they beat the Windsor Owls by a final score of 56-20.

There were several big performances by the Raiders but none were more impressive than what senior running back Blake Head was able to do – he racked up 219 yards on just 9 carries and scored 4 touchdowns en route to being named our Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week.

North County head coach Brian Jones says it was a special performance for Head for several reasons.

Head came into last week’s game against Windsor with 21 carries for 158 yards and 3 TD – so he essentially doubled his entire season output in one night.

He now has 30 carries for 377 yards, good for 12.6 yards per carry, and 7 touchdowns on the season.

Jones says while Head’s usage has varied throughout the season on offense, the game against Windsor showed that he’s always ready to go when his number is called.

As Athlete of the Week, Head will receive a T-shirt, a certificate and a coupon good for one free entree at Applebee’s in Farmington.

The North County football team will be back at home on Friday when they host the Potosi Trojans.

We’ll have coverage of that game beginning at 6 on J98.
