Highway patrol to host boater safety classes at Troop C Headquarters

(Jefferson County) The Missouri State Highway Patrol is providing three opportunities for members of the public to attend a Boater Safety Course at its Troop C headquarters in Weldon Spring.

These approved courses meet the national boating educational standard and will be held on March 26th, April 16th and May 14th.

Corporal Logan Bolton with the patrol says each class beings at 8am and will end by 4pm.

Corporal Bolton says if you plan on operating a vessel, having a boater safety card is just as important as having a valid drivers license.

U.S. Coast Guard statistics for 2020 indicate where the level of operator education was known, 77 percent of boating deaths occurred on vessels where the operator had not received boating education instruction.
