(HILLSBORO) The Hillsboro boys basketball team will be going for a 3rd consecutive district title after knocking off Festus 57-43 in the Class 4 District 3 semifinals Tuesday night on AM 1400 KJFF.

The two teams combined to hit 10 3-pointers in the first quarter, but the Hawks had 7 of the 10 which put them up 23-15. With time winding down in the 2nd quarter, Hillsboro went to a familiar play to end the first half emphatically.

With the Hawks pulling away in the 4th quarter, Michael Brewer returned the favor to Lampkins.

Lampkins was the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game with 18 points. Hawks head coach Dan Johnson had praise for both Lampkins and the rest of the team for playing a solid game.

Hillsboro advances to the Class 4 District 3 championship game to face Lutheran South on Friday at 7 p.m. That game can be heard on AM 1400 KJFF beginning at 6:45 with the Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show. Hillsboro will carry a 22-4 record into the matchup. And with the 57-43 loss for the Festus Tigers, their season comes to a close at 17-10.
