Hillsboro Girls End Season in 67-28 Loss to John Burroughs

(ST. LOUIS) The Hillsboro Lady Hawks basketball team reached new heights in the program this season but they lost Friday night in a quarterfinal game at John Burroughs High School, 67-28. The Lady Hawks fell behind early and had difficulty matching up with the Lady Bombers. Friday night’s game was broadcast on KTJJ J-98 “The Boot” and mymoinfo.com.

Hillsboro trailed at halftime 43-13 and 53-18 at the end of three quarters.

The leading scorer for John Burroughs was Monet Witherspoon with 16 points. For the Lady Hawks, Ashley Hilton had nine points.

Hillsboro head coach Andrew Hubbard said he is proud of the team for their accomplishments this season.

With 18 seconds left in the contest, a timeout was called by Lady Bombers coach Jacob Yorg to allow Hillsboro to take their seniors out of the game and let the fans of both schools give the Hawks a standing ovation. Hubbard says it was a class act by Coach Yorg.

Hillsboro ends their season at (26-3). John Burroughs improved to (26-3) and they advance to the Class 5 Final Four for a semi final game on Wednesday at Mizzou Arena.
