Hillsboro Loses to Kearney in Title Game 68-28
(COLUMBIA)    The Hillsboro Hawks football season came to a close Saturday afternoon in Columbia in the Class Four Championship game as the Hawks lost to the Kearney Bulldogs 68-28.  The game was broadcast on KJFF and mymoinfo.com
On the opening drive of the game, the Hawks vigorously moved the ball down the field, helped out by a 70 yard pass play of Preston Brown to Payton Brown and the Hawks were able to get the ball inside the Bulldog two yard line. But a penalty pushed them back five yards. The Bulldogs defense stood its ground and the Hawks were unable to score on a fourth and goal situation.  Being denied the endzone on that possession seemed to set the tone for the Hawks for the rest of the game.
Kearney then scored 13 points in a matter of forty seconds and had a 13-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Just before the close of the quarter, the Hawks got on the scoreboard with this 55 yard run by Payton Brown.

With the Hawks trailing 27-7, Chase Sucharski scored on this 34 yard touchdown catch.

The Bulldogs ended up outscoring the Hawks 21-7 in the second quarter and went to the locker room at halftime with a 31-14 lead.
Kearney owned a 47-28 advantage at the end of the third quarter.
With ten minutes to play in the game, Kearney stretched the lead to 54-28.  Two rushing TD’s by Kearney within a minute midway in the fourth made the final score 68-28.
The Hawks end their season with a final record of 12-2.  Kearney finished this season at 13-2.
