Hillsboro’s Tucker takes center stage after debut wrestling season ends on Dream Team

(Hillsboro) One of the reasons the Hillsboro Hawks have become one of the best wrestling programs in the state is how they have young athletes who experience immediate success.

Freshman Jackson Tucker is the latest Hawk who’s flexing his muscle on the mat not long after his egg hatched.

Tucker makes the Regional Radio Dream Team in his first varsity season after finishing runner-up at the Class 2 state championships at 126 pounds.

But he’ll be the first person to recognize this kind of success is not typical for everybody.

Tucker adjusted to high school wrestling without many stumbles, winning a district title and going 44-4 overall.

He says there wasn’t much to change, because practice everyday looked the same as in middle school.

And it’s the coaches that showed him the way that Tucker says he’s most grateful for.

Tucker is the 2 Hillsboro freshman to make the wrestling Dream Team in the last 3 years and one of 4 Hawks to earn the honor in 2022.
