(CALEDONIA) – Third-place action in the girls Valley Caledonia Tournament Thursday night saw the Valley Caledonia Vikings sneak past the Jefferson Blue Jays 55-53. The contest was tight throughout as both teams finished tied at 26 at the halftime break. Valley had a slim lead through most of the second half, then Jefferson took a late lead in the fourth.

But the Vikings inched ahead with some timely free throws and grabbed the two-point victory at the end. Vikings head coach Caleb Tiefenauer said he expected this game to be close.
