(Jefferson County) The investigation of the body that was found in the Mississippi River near Kimmswick on January 16th has been turned over to the St. Louis City Metro Police Department.

According to Corporal Juston Wheetley with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the body was determined to be that of a missing person from the City of St. Louis.

A group of people were boating up the river when they spotted the body in the water across from Hoppies Marina in Kimmswick.

Regional Radio reached out to the City of St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department for further information regarding the investigation and identity of the body, however police were unable to comment on the open investigation.
