Iron County Sheriff’s now has Double Pneumonia as He Battles Covid-19

(Ironton) The sheriff of Iron County remains hospitalized with Covid-19.

According to the latest from the sheriff’s department Facebook page, Sheriff Jeff Burkett had been stable for several days, showing positive signs of recovery.

However, Burkett has now developed double pneumonia and is in critical condition.

In the meantime, Chris Barton will be the acting sheriff of the county.

Barton says they will continue to provide full service to Iron County citizens.

The acting sheriff says he has also contacted sheriff’s departments in neighboring counties along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol to fill them in on sheriff Burkett’s situation.

All say they are willing to provide support to the Iron County Sheriff’s Department if needed.
