JCAA vs MAAA All-Star Event Returns to MAC on April 17th
(Park Hills) Basketball fans in the Parkland get one more chance to see the best of the best in action with the JCAA vs MAAA All-Star Event sponsored by Dig Deep Basketball coming up on Saturday, April 17th at Mineral Area College.
The event features a full day of hoops with youth teams, high school all-star teams, a three-point shootout, and much more.
Stephon Martinez of Dig Deep Basketball has been at the forefront of putting this event on over the past few years.
He says the day is all about bringing the great talent from our area together under one roof.
The rosters for the JCAA vs MAAA all-star teams are comprised of around 10 players chosen by area coaches as the top players from the class of 2021 in each conference.
Martinez explains how the selection process works.
The all-star games themselves are scheduled to tipoff at 5:30 for the girls and 7:30 for the boys.
Each game will feature 10 minute quarters to allow for ample opportunity for all the players to see the court.
Aside from getting the chance to see immensely talented rosters square off at MAC, Martinez says part of the allure is the opportunity for fans to see the cream of the crop from the class of 2021 one final time before they head off to college.
Another big component of the event is giving the youth teams an opportunity to play in front of a big crowd at a college facility.
There will be four games featuring teams from 5th through 8th grade in addition to a 16U game with high school freshmen and sophomores.
Martinez says he hopes the experience for the youngsters ignites their passion for the game of basketball.
Gates open at Mineral Area College on the 17th at 10:30.
Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for students, and kids five and under get in for free.
