(HILLSBORO) The boys basketball Class 3 Sectional at Jefferson College in Hillsboro on Wednesday night features the Jefferson Blue Jays and the St. James Tigers.

St. James won its District 4 championship on Saturday by defeating Steelville 53-52. The Tigers are led in scoring by junior guard Andrew Branson who is averaging 21.5 points per game. Head coach Ben Smith says that his guys only play one way and that is really fast.

St. James holds a 17-11 overall record.

The Jefferson Blue Jays, on the other hand, are 19-8 and led by Easton Null and Jon Weik. Jefferson won its District 3 championship game 66-52 over St. Pius. Head coach Sean Breeze believes that his guys won the school’s first-ever district title because they trust in him and each other, and that’s how they’ll keep winning.

This Class 3 Sectional will be the first time St. James and Jefferson have ever played each other. You can catch the action on AM 1400 KJFF on Wednesday beginning with the Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show at 5:45. Tip-off from Jefferson College is scheduled for 6 p.m.
