Jefferson boys looking to match football success on the basketball court

(Festus) The Jefferson Blue Jays aren’t just a football school.

Despite their recent trip to the state semifinals on the gridiron, don’t forget that the Blue Jays won a district title in boys’ basketball in 2019.

Jefferson looks to take steps forward after winning 14 games last year and losing all-conference senior forward Jon Weik.

But Jays head coach Sean Breeze says this team may be more versatile than others.

Senior guard Colby Ott is back after averaging almost 10 points and 3 steal per game last season, and Jefferson will have plenty of size with seniors Masen Wilson, Daylen Whitener and Dawson Jakoubek.

Breeze thinks one of those seniors is a prime example of why his guys have the chemistry and the drive to do special things on the hardwood.

Jefferson did drop its first 2 games of the season to Bourbon and St. Vincent.
