Jefferson County Council rezones property in northwest county

(Hillsboro) The Jefferson County Council has decided to rezone property along Highway FF near Eureka for future development. At Monday night’s meeting, the council approved rezoning 37 acres from a single-family residential zone district to a planned single-family residential zone district. County Executive Dennis Gannon says the development will take place along an area farm used for horses.

There was some opposition from the public on the zoning change, due to the fear of additional traffic resulting from the development. However, Gannon expects MODOT will make the necessary changes and improvements once the building project begins.

The council also passed a resolution to change Skullbones Hill Road in Dittmer from a large lot residential zone district to a planned mixed-use zone district.
