Jefferson County Council votes against homeless house

(Hillsboro) The Jefferson County Council voted to deny a use permit for a group home that would be used as a facility to help persons with disabilities, hospice or special care with the homeless community. County Executive Dennis Gannon says it’s unfortunate it wasn’t approved. The location would have been located along Old Highway 21 in Hillsboro.

Gannon says the homeless population is filled with many that have just run into bad luck over the years.

On Monday of last week, the Jefferson County Council voted down the proposition by a 3-2 vote, however, two of the council members did not attend the meeting and the issue could be placed on a future agenda for another try.
