(Jefferson County) Recently coronavirus numbers have been on the rise in Jefferson County with the county seeing at least 52 new cases between Friday and Sunday, with 42 of those cases being confirmed on Saturday which is the largest amount of new cases reported in a single day since COVID-19 started in the county.

Brianne Zwiener is the Communications Specialist for the Jefferson County Health Department (JCHD).

We asked her why we are seeing a spike in COVID-19 numbers.

Some people are calling for the JCHD to implement a mandate where people have to wear a mask while out in public, much like St. Louis City and County have done. Zeiener mentions that idea has been brought up.

In response to the recent spike in coronavirus numbers, the JCHD closed its Arnold and High Ridge locations on Monday.

This includes vital records processing at these locations.

The locations will now be used for health department staff working and investigating COVID-19 cases.

The Hillsboro location is still open by appointment only. Please call 636-797-3737 to schedule.
