Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office expects a busy weekend

(Hillsboro) The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is preparing for what could be a busy 4th of July holiday weekend. Sheriff Dave Marshak says they always get calls concerning fireworks complaints….but in unincorporated Jefferson County, there are no laws against the discharging of fireworks.

Lieutenant Colonel Tim Whitney says there is little the office can do unless there is property damage from fireworks.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will have additional patrols out this weekend responding to calls for service and watching the roadway for impaired drivers.

For those residents that live within a municipality, check with your local law enforcement agency to find what times are available for the use of fireworks.
