Jefferson County Sheriffs Office warns of scam calls

(Hillsboro) The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office continues to get the word out to warn the residents of phone calls that are nothing more than scams. Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Grant Bissell says these scammers will try to pose as Sheriff’s deputies.

Bissell says the scammers will attempt to inform the person of pending warrants and unpaid tickets.

Bissell says members of the sheriff’s office will not make house calls to residents in this type of manner, and never give out payment information over the phone. If any resident has questions if they have received calls such as these, contact their non-emergency line at (636) 797-9999.
