Jefferson Football Downs St. Vincent On J98

(Festus) The Jefferson Bluejays football team knocked off the St. Vincent Indians on their home turf tonight 35-28 on J98. The Bluejays got a stop to start the game, got the ball and found the end zone two plays later.

St. Vincent wasted no time to tie the game up at 7.

Jake Kapp would then come back out on the field as a corner back and pick off Drew Breeze to set up another Indians touchdown.

However, Jefferson would score a couple of more times and then take the lead into the halftime break in a high scoring affair.

Colby Ott was our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game with two touchdowns and great defensive play. Jefferson took the 28-21 lead into the half. The second half didn’t have nearly as much scoring, but it was just as exciting as Jefferson would take a two score advantage.

St. Vincent would then get within one score, get a stop and get the ball back with five minutes to play. Jefferson would then step up and make the biggest play of the game.

After the game, head coach Alex Rouggly had to give a shout out to the Bluejay linemen.

Jefferson improves to 5-2 and will be the 3 seed in the Class 2 District 1 tournament where they will host the St. Pius Lancers. St. Vincent drops to 5-2 and will be the 2 seed in the Class 1 Distict 1 tournament and host Crystal City next week.
