Jefferson R-7 and St. Pius X renew their gridiron rivalry on KJFF

(Festus) A game that will go a long way in determining the JCAA conference championship in high school football will take place tonight as the Jefferson Bluejays host the St. Pius Lancers. This will be the Game of the Week on 1400 KJFF. St. Pius comes in having won two straight after an opening week loss, including back-to-back shutout victories over Bishop Dubourg and Grandview. Lancers head coach Dan Oliver says the defense has been very good so far.

Oliver says Jefferson has some dangerous players at the skilled positions.

Jefferson Bluejays Coach Matt Atley says he was hoping the team would be a little further along by now.

Atley says St. Pius is pretty good at running their system.

For those that don’t remember, last year St. Pius defeated Jefferson with a touchdown scored on the last play of the game 24 to 20. The rivalry will be renewed as the 2-1 St. Pius Lancers battle the 1-2 Jefferson Bluejays at Jefferson High School on 1400 KJFF tonight.
