Kaylee King Goes 4-For-4 On The Dream Team, Named POY For 2nd Straight Year

(Southern Reynolds County) Kaylee King has been one of the most dominant basketball players in the state during her time at Ellington. Now a four-time member of the Dream Team, King has been named the Girls Basketball Player of the Year for the second straight year. King is appreciative that her hard work is being recognized by the area coaches…

Ellington’s all-time leading scorer with 2,965 career points, King averaged 32.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4 assists and 3.3 steals per game this season, all while shooting 54.6% from the field, 39.8% from three and 87.5% from the free throw line. King says she grew up wanting to play in an Ellington uniform…

Her mom, Paula, is now an assistant coach and the Superintendent of the Southern Reynolds County School District. Head coach David Burrows took over the mantle a few years ago…

King’s got great numbers, but she’s more of a team player. She once scored 49 points in a game against Van Buren, but that wasn’t her favorite game in a Whippet uniform…

Next year, King will play basketball at Southwest Baptist University…

King was the Class 2 Player of the Year in 2022 and was named Co-Player of the Year in 2023.
