Law enforcement officers need a certain skill set

(Hillsboro) Law Enforcement officers walk the fine line between being great community stewards and to needing to be able to respond to dangerous situations at the drop of a dime. Jefferson County Undersheriff, Lieutenant Colonel Tim Whitney says it takes a strong-minded officer to be able to jump into an active shooter situation.

Lieutenant Colonel Whitney says quick response to a school shooting or a mass shooting situation is all important.

Many law enforcement agencies have spoken in a very positive light to the fast response by the St. Louis City Police Department in the school shooting that took place at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School last month. That incident took the life of teacher Jean Kuczka, and 15-year-old Alexzandria Bell, and injured seven others before the shooter was shot and killed by police.
