Lawsuit Filed against Missouri Pleading for Mail-In Absentee Voting for Safety Purposes during Pandemic

(Jefferson City) The Missouri Voter Protection Coalition and American Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit to let eligible Missouri voters cast a mail-in absentee ballot during the coronavirus outbreak.

The suit says refusing to allow such voting while trying to avoid the spread of COVID-19 is a violation of the right to vote under the Missouri Constitution and the state’s voting laws.

The groups are suing the State, secretary of state, Jackson County prosecutor and election boards.

Governor Parson says he’s not interested in changing state law to expand early voting or to vote by mail for upcoming elections.
