(Cape Girardeau)  Cole Allen pitched his first complete game of the year in leading the Mineral Area College baseball team to its sub-regional victory over St. Louis Community College 2-1 at Capaha Field in Cape Girardeau on Sunday.

MAC trailed 1-0 after a solo shot by Clayton Stevens in the fifth inning, but the Cardinals responded with their two runs in the top of the sixth. West County first baseman Jared Jones tied it up with a ball that just about left the yard.

Herman Sepulvada drove in Tommy Van de Sanden for what would become the winning run.

MAC Coach Jordan Thompson talks about that play.

Jared Jones says he enjoys playing college ball close to home.

Pitcher Cole Allen says he was determined to pitch a complete game.

Mineral Area improves to 31-15, winning 12 out of their last 14 games. They’ll play Thursday against top seeded Jeffco in the Region 16 championship round in Joplin. The Vikings come in at 47-8 and have won a school record 29 straight. They’re also 16th in the NJCAA Division 1 rankings. We’ll broadcast Thursday’s game on AM-800 KREI AND AM-1400 KJFF.
