Mask Order Remains in Place for Jefferson County through Late December

(Jefferson County) A Mask Order remains in effect for Jefferson County through late this month as COVID-19 cases continue to rise heading into the holiday season.

The Mask Order, which went into effect Friday morning of last week, will remain in place until December 21st.

Health Department Director Kelley Vollmar says the order’s purpose is to provide the minimum restrictions with the most impact in lowering COVID numbers.

Within the language of the order, it mentions if the number of COVID-19 cases do not decrease in 21 days of implementation, further restrictions may be considered by the health department board and the county executive.

We asked County Executive Dennis Gannon if the county COULD be looking at a possible shutdown like earlier this year if the number of COVID cases do NOT go down.

The health board will go over the Mask Order during its next board meeting on December 21st.

Depending on where the county is at regarding COVID-19 positive cases, the order may be allowed to expire or extended.
