Millions Quit Their Jobs In August

(Washington D.C.) A new report from the U.S. Labor Department shows that more than 4.3 million American workers quit their jobs in August, a number that hasn’t been seen since December 2020.

The report shows the massive number of outgoing workers were mostly involved in either the restaurant or retail industries, with 892,000 restaurant employees leaving their jobs and 721,000 retail workers handing in their resignations.

An additional 534,000 health care workers also quit in August.

Officials say concerns about the pandemic most likely led to the surge in people quitting.
