MoDOT holds successful virtual public meeting on future road work on I-55

(Jefferson County) The Missouri Department of Transportation held a virtual public meeting in late September to discuss the pending road work on Interstate 55 from the Route Z interchange in Pevely to the Route 67 interchange south of Festus.

MoDOT Engineer Stephen O’Connor says it was a productive meeting with plenty of people providing feedback on what they think should be done construction wise along the stretch of interstate.

O’Connor goes over a few other problems noted by the public.

MoDOT will take the problems addressed and see if solutions can be factored into construction plans.

The big focus for the upcoming road project is to add a third lane north and southbound on I-55 between Pevely and Festus.

While planning is still in the early phases, initial thought is that road work could begin in late 2023 or early 2024.
