Most Mark Twain National Forest Campgrounds & Recreation Areas are Open

(Enough) Most campgrounds and recreation areas ran by Mark Twain National Forest personnel are open right now.

However, Forest Ranger Becky Ewing says a couple locations are either closed altogether or partially closed.

We asked Ewing if fishermen have been using Council Bluff Lake which is located in northern Iron County.

Council Bluff Lake is stocked with largemouth bass, red-ear, sunfish, bluegill, crappie and catfish.

Fishing is permitted year round.

There are two boat launches on Council Bluff Lake…Wild Boar Hollow off the main entrance off ‘D-D’ Highway and the Enough Boat Launch located off Highway 32.

Council Bluff Lake was created by a dam across the Big River. It is 440 acres in size and 87-feet deep in some places.
