National Weather Service on Winter Season Forecast

(Jefferson County) The first few weeks into the winter season hasn’t amount to much in regards to snow and ice accumulations even with the New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day winter storm.

Kevin Deitsch is a Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in St. Louis. We asked him what kind of weather set up will be in place for the next two-and-a-half months of winter.

So far since the start of winter, Jefferson County has recorded a tenth-of-an-inch of ice accumulation and around a trace of snowfall.

Dietch adds the weak La Niña weather pattern will persist into the early spring which could mean an active severe weather storm season in March and April.
