New collector well should help the Jefferson County Water Authority meet the needs

(Festus, Herculaneum) The Jefferson County Water Authority which serves the communities of Festus and Herculaneum with everyday water use got some good news recently with the construction of a second collector well. Festus City Administrator Greg Camp says the current water collector was struggling to keep up with the demand for the two cities and the residents it serves.

Camp says the new collector well being added to the mix will not only keep the cities running smoothly, but should also be able to handle future growth.

The project and creation of the second collector well cost both Festus and Herculaneum around 12 and 1/2 million dollars. The second collector well is expected to be operational by August of this year.
