North County Hosts Farmington To Start Football Season on KREI

(Bonne Terre) Farmington had won seven straight against North County, until last year, when the Raiders football team reset the rivalry with a pair of wins over the Knights and a journey all the way to the Class Four state semifinals. North County went 12-2 on the season and beat Farmington by nearly 30 points per game in their two contests. North County lost some talent to the college ranks, but the Raiders return three starting offensive lineman and Jobe Smith, who rushed for nearly 2,000 yards.
Smith rushed for a school record 338 yards in the North County’s playoff win over the Knights and totaled over 400 all purpose yards in week one last year. Farmington coach Erik Kruppe says the outcome will depend on whether his defense can get Smith on the ground…

Farmington will counter with a sophomore fullback in Kaeson McClain who closed in on a thousand in his freshman season. He’ll be the first option in Farmington’s triple option attack, but coach Kruppe says it starts with the guys in front of him…

North County coach Brian Jones says the Knights will wear you out….

Jones is hoping that his first time starters are ready for the intensity of this rivalry game…

Farmington finished last year at 7-4. It’s a St. Francois rivalry when Farmington visits North County on AM 800 KREI.
