Pevely begins collecting marijuana tax funds

(Pevely) The City of Pevely will begin to see additional revenues from the marijuana sales tax that was passed earlier this year. Pevely City Administrator Andy Hixson says it comes at a good time, as regular sales tax numbers have been in good shape so far in 2023.

Hixson says the monies from sales of recreational marijuana from their one dispensary in town will be placed in general revenue. However, they are placing Proposition P will be placed on the April election ballot, and if passed, that will go toward public safety.

The City of Pevely is currently in the midst of preparing for the next fiscal year budget, which goes into effect in January.
