(IMPERIAL) Windsor softball catcher and junior Piper Montgomery mashed her way last week to her first Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy Play It Forward Athlete of the Week award.

In 7 games last week, Piper had 3 home runs, one of which was a grand slam, 19 RBI’s, 9 doubles, a triple, and a .739 batting average. Her week was capped off with a walk-off double over Jackson for 3rd place in the Jackson Tournament. The team wound up finishing with a 5-2 record.

Piper was asked which moment was more special, the grand slam or the walk-off.

For being the Athlete of the Week, the Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy will be making a 25-dollar donation to a local non-profit of Piper’s choice. Piper chose something that hits home for her.

With the St. Louis Blues beginning the 2019 season tonight at home against Washington, Piper and a lot of students at Windsor High School were wearing their St. Louis Blues Stanley Cup Champions t-shirts. So Piper, a big Blues fan, shared her thoughts on the note winning the Stanley Cup and who her favorite player is.

Piper also received a Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy t-shirt and certificate for winning Athlete of the Week. After last week’s performance, Piper Montgomery is up to a .563 batting average this season to go along with 3 home runs and 34 RBI’s. The Windsor Owls are currently 10-11.
