Record Rainfall from Last Week in Farmington Took a Few Days to Reach Lake Wappapello

(Wappapello) The water from last Thursday’s record rainfall in Farmington has finally ended up in Lake Wappapello in southern Wayne County.

Becky Hays with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the lake explains.

Fishermen don’t seem to mind the extra water at Lake Wappapello.

Hays says boat ramps are close to capacity right now.

Hays says when it rains in the Farmington area, it usually takes three to four days for that water to make it’s way down the St. Francis River into Lake Wappapello.
