Rep. Reuter Trying To Get Help For A New Jefferson County Courthouse

(JEFFERSON CITY, HILLSBORO) 112th District State Representative Renee Reuter is trying to get some funding help for the construction of a new courthouse in Jefferson County. She says she’s submitted a bill in the Missouri Legislature to build a partial funding mechanism.

Reuter says the reaction to House Bill 2095 has been positive.

The bill states that associate circuit and circuit judges of the 23rd judicial circuit will require parties filing a civil suit to pay a surcharge of $45, which will be deposited into a Jefferson County courthouse construction fund. Those funds will be used for the construction of a new courthouse in the 23rd judicial circuit. The bill also states the provisions will expire in August of 2045.
