Representative McGirl to Lead House Ways and Means Committee

(Jefferson City) State Representative Mike McGirl will lead a House committee this year during the legislative session at the state capitol in Jefferson City.

He’s excited to be the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

The lawmaker from Potosi provides some details about the House Ways and Means Committee and what it does.

Once a bill passes out of any committee, it then needs to be debated in both chambers before getting a vote of yea or nay.

Even if a bill passes out of committee, there is no guarantee it would see a full vote in both chambers.

The leader of the full house and the state senate leader has the power to decide which bills will get a chance to eventually become law.
